Bengaluru Namma Metro Updates:

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) announced on Wednesday that the much-anticipated Yellow Line, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra, is expected to begin operations around May 15. A new set of driverless trains has been dispatched from Kolkata and is scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru soon. This development is projected to ease traffic congestion and significantly reduce travel time for lakhs of commuters.

The Yellow Line is especially beneficial for IT professionals living in Electronic City—one of Bengaluru’s major industrial and tech hubs. According to BMRCL officials, the metro line will help employees save time by alleviating the severe traffic jams that frequently occur along Hosur Road and the elevated expressway. This area houses several major IT companies, including Infosys, Wipro, and HCL, contributing to the daily traffic load..

Namma Metro Yellow Line Set to Ease Traffic Woes

Commuters who currently spend hours stuck in traffic during peak office hours can soon expect relief, as the Yellow Line will bring Electronic City just 6 kilometers closer to Bommasandra. Beyond easing road congestion, the new metro corridor is also expected to help curb air pollution, with a growing number of IT professionals likely to shift to metro travel.

“With the addition of these new trains, BMRCL plans to accelerate the launch of services on the Yellow Line, which will link R.V. Road with Bommasandra. Once operational, this stretch will significantly reduce traffic congestion and provide smooth, efficient connectivity for daily commuters, particularly those traveling between major industrial and residential zones,” a BMRCL official told The Hindu.

Although six Chinese-manufactured coaches arrived in Bengaluru on February 14 earlier this year, the authorities clarified that operations would begin only after receiving at least six additional trains needed for regular service.
